Obituary

The Central Indiana community sadly lost a pillar on April 12, 2020, when Paul Loggan, age 57, passed away from health conditions caused by coronavirus. Paul was known as a friend, a mentor, a teacher, a coach and a father-figure among his many roles at North Central High School, where he had worked for more than three decades. Paul, who also worked at Franklin Central and Roncalli, never met a stranger. No matter how busy he was, Paul always had time to share words of wisdom for a student or colleague – or just listen. But what mattered most to Paul was his family. It was almost impossible to find Paul without one or more of his children – sons Michael and Will and daughter, Sami – and his wife of nearly 29 years, Kathy (Sahm) Loggan. Paul was the athletic director at North Central since 2014 after a long tenure as an assistant athletic director at North Central, working with then-athletic director Chuck Jones, who considered Paul his best friend. Paul was a best friend to many. He is the past president of the Indiana Football Coaches Association and stayed heavily involved with the IFCA in various roles, including as the game director for the past 33 years of the North/South All-Star game, which was hosted by North Central every summer. He was also a longtime member of the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and will be missed by his fellow athletic directors. Paul is survived by his wife  loving wife, Kathy and three children, Michael (fiancé Megan Sizemore), Will and Sami and. He is also survived by his mother, Marjorie Loggan, brothers Ted (Gena) and Bo, sister Kelly, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William (JR).Loggan. Paul was born on April 5, 1963, in Shelbyville, Indiana. He was an outstanding athlete at Rushville High School, where he graduated in 1981. Paul went on to the University of Indianapolis, where he was an All-American linebacker and team captain on the football team and graduated in 1985. He was inducted into the UIndy Hall of Fame in 2012. He went on to earn his Masters degree from Ball State University.
